NewsTrump mocks Barr after endorsement, says he will remove 'lethargic' label

Former President Trump late Wednesday swiped at his one-time attorney general, Bill Barr, after Barr said he would support the GOP presidential ticket despite his criticisms.

“Wow! Former A.G. Bill Barr, who let a lot of great people down by not investigating Voter Fraud in our Country, has just Endorsed me for President despite the fact that I called him ‘Weak, Slow Moving, Lethargic, Gutless, and Lazy’ (New York Post!),” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Based on the fact that I greatly appreciate his wholehearted Endorsement, I am removing the word ‘Lethargic’ from my statement. Thank you Bill.”

Barr, who has for months criticized Trump’s conduct during his time in office and since leaving, said last week that he would vote for the “Republican ticket” in November, for which Trump is the presumptive presidential nominee.

“I think it’s my duty to pick the person I think would do the least harm to the country,” Barr told Fox News. “And in my mind, that’s — I will vote the Republican ticket.”

Barr served as attorney general for the final two years of Trump’s first term in the White House. While the former president praised him often during his tenure, the former president turned on Barr after he said there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election as Trump had claimed.

The former attorney general has since spoken about the seriousness of the criminal charges facing Trump and he has been critical of his former boss’s rhetoric. He also previously called Trump’s defenses for his handling of classified documents “absurd,” and compared the former president to a “defiant 9-year-old kid.”

Barr most recently called Trump’s push for Congress to kill the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) as “crazy and reckless.”

Trump for his part has previously blasted Barr as a “coward,” “gutless,” and “sloppy.”
