“By and large, the evangelical community remains supportive of this President because he’s kept his promises,” Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, told Christiane Amanpour on CNN.

“The support for Donald Trump doesn’t come in a vacuum,” continued Perkins. “We go back to 2016 presidential elections, during the primaries most of us were not Trump supporters, I wasn’t a Trump supporter. It’s when it came down to make a real choice, it wasn’t a theoretical choice, it was a real choice between Hillary Clinton who pledged to continue the policies of Barack Obama, who’s policies were antithetical to most christians in this country, specially his attacks on religious freedoms like such as ‘Little Sisters of the Poor’, and so they decided to take a chance on Donald Trump.”

“To the surprise of many, Trump has kept his promises and he has advanced his policies that he said he would do,” concluded Tony Perkins.
