Are you voting? Here are few apps for smart voters
Midterms are around the corner. Voting is integral to democracy. These apps can help you cast a more informed vote as you join the millions of Americans who'll be heading to the polls on November 6th.
Vote like a local
Countable keeps you up to date on political news relevant to your district and helps you contact you representatives at the state and federal level. For the midterm elections, the app will help brief you on what's on the ballot.
Dive deep on big issues
As part of its No Excuses Campaign, popular news app 'TheSkimm' will be digging into the issues that most affect Americans - health care, jobs, immigration, and more - until the midterms elections. If you're not registered to vote yet, make that happen right in the app through a partnership with Rock the Vote.
Get to the polls
Ride-sharing app Lyft is offering a 50 percent discount on trips to the polling station on Election Day (or free rides to underserved communities that face significant obstacles to transportation, according to the Lyft blog). Get a promo code through Vote.org, Nonprofit VOTE, or TurboVote to use on November 6 in the app.
Stay up to date
The Washington Post provides the fastest way to get breaking news on election results. If you're running iOS 12 or later and have opted into notifications, get the latest right from lock screen. Just long press a notification to see additional images and excerpts of breaking news stories. You'll also be able to tap to see real-time election results, electoral maps, and other infographics without opening the app.
