While U.S. imposes sanctions on Chinese military, Germany furthers security talks with China
China summoned today the US ambassador to officially protest over sanctions imposed by the United States against a Chinese military organization for buying Russian fighter jets and missiles, state media said.
While Trump administration is tightening the belt on China, Germany a NATO member held, a second round of a bilateral high-level security talks with Chinese counterparts in Berlin.
China was represented by Chen Yixin, secretary-general of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, while Johannes Geismann, the State Secretary and Federal Commissioner for Intelligence represented Germany.
Both sides stressed the importance of international cooperation and dialogue on security issues, and agreed to uphold the principle of equality, mutual trust, sincerity and being practical in further deepening their security cooperation, reported Xinhua Agency.
They agreed the next security talks would be held in Beijing in 2019.
